Grey Rocks 10:48
By the cry of loon here was I brought To the grey rocks nearby river I seem to have never been here Or maybe I returned home? Palms laid on the rough granite Immemorial drawings sank into fingers They hectically tell something On language forgotten far and wide Fire threads, bloodred lines Stone beasts turn Their ardent faces to me And ask me for things Which I have no answer: «Where your bones lie, The Dead Man? Who killed you?» They come out of the rock and surround me – Crimson shades in thickening gloaming I look into their eyes And I remember…

The ancient mother The elder woman That sits on an abandoned shrine In the depths of bogs An ancient woman With deer horns on her head She has animal eyes They are closed, But she sees everything. Low skies droop snow, Droop snow on her face It is painted with blood – Scarlet lines on still face. White snow onto red blood – White snow from the black skies. The ancient mother sings a song, She evokes the spirits of evil Words of dead language Are woven into the song And fall on permafrost As stones and ice Sprout into the ground As black flowers of the underworld. The ancient mother Chants on the abandoned shrine In circle of grey stones, Attracting dark. They come – Those whom she called for, Ghost visitors Who leave no trace On the snow. Primeval evil returned Follow her call – There will be more rites Amidst dead bogs.

Orphan 05:53
I hear how Her bone dress rattles – An eerie dry clatter, More dreadful than anything I know. I never saw her Just the old whispered – Her face is pecked by birds, Bloody orifices instead of eyes Rats gnawed through her cheeks And nibbled at her once thick hair. But she didn’t die, Though her heart doesn’t beat anymore In her small chest. Rekken jejwel Child from a dead settlement, Daughter of parents hacked apart From their bones she made her dress To hide her rotten body From the sight of skies. She wandered from village to village In search of a new family But the spirits of death follow her – Now it is our turn… Rekken jejwel

We run on crumbly snow Tying our feet Trail of blood as black stars Guides us through the white mist Forest spirits send us the prey Calling with the might of their charms And now it takes our arrows away In its bloodstained flanks Bone attracts bone Life and death weave together The Ancient Ones decide who must perish: We tomorrow or the beast today We rush so fast As fast as our exhausted bodies can Gelid wind freezes on our faces And fills us with cold from within No beasts are heard anymore Forest hid it, turned into the mist of snow… It stares archly on us, Lost amidst the tolling silence We are weak, just too weak Soon death will enter our homes Spirits will make arrows from our bones To hunt in the black thicket Under the starless sky

Downstream 09:59
I drift in a bark with no oars – Downstream Into the primeval darkness – Downstream Where all goes away – Downstream And from where we return Being born again – Downstream Plangent chants over the tombstones Carry me off from familiar places Cold stone lies in my bed Bitter willow does not let me in yaranga Time will go round henceforth – Everything there differs from one above Dead prepare for new born, Waiting for them to lie in a new cradle We spy on you Like children peep on hunters, Hiding behind the boulders, Surreptitiously trying on Clothes that are not their size We furtively dress the flesh of dormants While their souls carelessly stride among dreams. Like a fearfully yelling seagull We leave this world away Awakening amidst darkness. But I remember all Along with all other In this black thicket Under the starless sky We wait…
